Driving Course Pricing in Montreal: What You Should Expect to Pay
Driving school pricing in Quebec can be hard to compare. Programs are packaged differently, some add-ons are sold separately, and it isn’t always clear what a headline price actually covers.
At École Unity, our goal is simple: you should know exactly what you’re paying for, and exactly what you’ll pay, before you enrol. No surprises when you sign up.
What a SAAQ-Recognized Program Includes
Before comparing prices, make sure you’re comparing the same thing. Only driving schools recognized by the SAAQ can offer the mandatory course for a Class 5 licence, and the complete program includes:
- 24 hours of theory, given as 12 two-hour modules in the classroom or online, covering all SAAQ knowledge test content
- 15 in-car sessions with a certified instructor (about 55 minutes each; the SAAQ counts them as 15 hours of practice)
- An attestation of successful completion from your driving school once you have completed the program
Some schools sell these components separately or by phase, which can make the total cost harder to compare. We offer the complete program as a bundle, and we also offer individual pieces for students who need them.
Questions to Ask Any Driving School
Whichever school you choose, ask these before you sign:
- Is the school recognized by the SAAQ, and can I see its recognition certificate?
- Does the price include both the 24 hours of theory and all 15 in-car sessions?
- Does the quote show applicable taxes and every other fee?
- Is car rental for the SAAQ road test included, or is it extra?
- If I pay in installments, what is the full payment schedule, and are there any added costs?
- What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Current rates: Prices are updated with SAAQ requirements and program changes. Call us or book a free 30-minute consultation and we’ll give you the current rate for the option that fits your needs and budget.
Why we quote directly. We would rather give you an exact, up-to-date figure in writing than post a number here that may be out of date by the time you read it.
Payment Options
Driving school is an investment, and not everyone can pay the full amount upfront. We offer installment payment options so that getting your licence doesn’t depend on paying everything at once.
Ask us about installment plans when you get in touch. We’ll walk you through what’s available and give you the full payment schedule in writing before you sign, with no pressure.
Our Commitments
- We don’t charge more because you’re a newcomer. Everyone pays the same rate for the same program, whether you grew up in Montreal or arrived last month.
- We don’t hide fees. Your written quote shows every fee and applicable tax before you enrol. What you’re quoted is what you pay.
- We don’t upsell. We’ll tell you exactly what the SAAQ requires and what is genuinely helpful, so you only pay for what you need.
