đą Step 1: Enroll in a Certified Driving School
To begin, you must register with a driving school recognized by the SAAQ.

The full Class 5 driving course lasts a minimum of 13 months, divided into 4 phases.

Youâll need valid ID, proof of residence, and course fees to register.

At Unity Driving School, our instructors are certified and bilingual (English & French).
đ Step 2: Phase 1 â Theory Modules (Learnerâs License)

5 theory modules (12 hours total).

Topics: traffic rules, road signs, safe driving habits, and sharing the road.

After completing Phase 1, youâll receive an Attestation to book your SAAQ knowledge test.
â Passing the test gives you your Learnerâs License.
đŠ Step 3: Phase 2 â Theory + Initial Driving Lessons

2 theory modules + 4 in-car lessons.

Focus: the basics of safe driving (starting, stopping, turning, parking).

All lessons are done with an instructor in our school vehicles.
đ Step 4: Phase 3 â Building Real Experience

3 theory modules + 6 in-car lessons.

Youâll practice in real traffic, on highways, and in defensive driving situations.

Once eligible, you can also drive with an accompanying driver (parent or friend) outside class hours.
đŁ Step 5: Phase 4 â Advanced Driving & Preparation

2 theory modules + 4 in-car lessons + 1 observation session.

Topics: night driving, winter conditions, emergencies.

This stage is your final preparation before the road test.

đ Step 6: The Road Test (SAAQ Exam)

After at least 12 months with a learnerâs license, you can book your SAAQ road test.

The exam evaluates your ability to handle real-world driving.

Once you pass the road test, youâll receive a Probationary License, valid for 24 months.
